How we support the Yirol community in North America

01

Community & mutual assistance

In Yirol, no one faces hard times alone, and the same is true here. When a member loses a loved one, falls ill, or arrives new to the country, YCDA helps the community come together around them.

  • Bereavement and funeral support
  • Help for families who are new to the U.S. or Canada
  • Emergency assistance fund for members
  • Sharing joyful news: weddings, births and graduations

Need support?

If you or your family are going through a difficult time, reach out. Requests are handled privately.

02

Culture

Our songs, dances, language and stories are who we are. We celebrate them together and share them with our neighbours in North America.

  • Cultural celebrations and annual gathering
  • Traditional dance groups
  • Dinka language and storytelling for children
  • Performances at local festivals and schools

03

Youth & diaspora

Many of our young people were born or raised here. We help them build friendships across cities, stay connected to their roots, and lead the community's future.

  • Youth meetups, sports and social events
  • Youth leadership council
  • Online group for Yirol youth across North America

04

Academic & social outreach

Education is one of the most powerful things we can give each other. We connect students with mentors and share opportunities across the community.

  • Mentoring by professionals in the community
  • College application and scholarship help
  • Job, internship and training opportunities
  • Recognising our graduates every year

05

Economic empowerment

We help members build stable, prosperous lives in the United States, and pool our strength so the whole community benefits.

  • Mobilizing members for socio-economic development through lawful means
  • Joint investment opportunities for the collective benefit of members
  • Financial literacy, small business or homeownership workshops

From our constitution

“To create and manage joint investment opportunities for the collective financial benefit of members.”
